In this activity, learners explore the advantages and disadvantages of buttons and sliders in modern devices. Participants are provided with a paper potentiometer that simulates the role of a slider, and connect it to a micro:bit. A code is available to explore how the code mediates the relationship between the potentiometer's input and micro:bit output. Learners are encouraged to experiment with the potentiometer to change various outputs, leading to insightful discussions about applications, limitations, and the input-output dynamics of sliders. The activity culminates in presentations where learners share adaptations of potentiometer use and discuss the inputs and outputs they explored. The activity includes prompts to facilitate a discussion about outputs, the use of the potentiometer, and potential applications of sliders.
