Exploring Circuits
Activity
Build and test circuits to understand how components control the flow of electricity.
Batteries (AA or D-cell), E10 mini lightbulbs, insulated wires
30-45 minutes
individual, small groups, pairs, camp
This activity introduces learners to the concept of circuits through hands-on exploration and simulation. Learners will build physical circuits to investigate how energy flows through different components, and then use a computer simulation to visualize and extend their understanding of circuit behavior. Through these experiences, learners will explore the differences between series and parallel circuits and examine how voltage and current influence the brightness of lightbulbs and the flow of electricity.
